2022 AWARDS DINNER

The Most Inclusive North-East Celebration Asian Business Connexions Annual Awards Dinner took place on Thursday 20th October!

The Grand Hotel, Gosforth Park was transformed into a beautiful venue filled with hundreds of individuals coming together to celebrate inclusion.  Guests were greeted with a drink's reception, Punjabi Canapes and the Royal Fusiliers Band before heading into the Grand Room for the main event which was hosted brilliantly by Tommy Sandhu.

Our chairman - who was sadly unwell - managed to make a guest appearance and opened the event with a heartfelt speech about his own inclusion experience, making reference to the positive changes at Newcastle United that have enabled the city and the wider region to come together.

The Awards ceremony seen over 10 people recognised for their sustained and significant contribution to the lives and livelihoods of many.  Our chairman's awards were presented to Dr Nicola Hutchinson, Lt Col Andy Black and Sir John Hall.

Our friends from Yorkshire Asian Business Assocation - Sharon Jandu - Imran Patel from North West Asian Business Association and Diana Chrouch from the All-Party Parliamentary Group for BAME Business supported the event and were congratulated for their collaborative work in tackling inequalities and encouraging community cohesion.

The three course authentic Panjabi meal was served by the award winning Mango Group, with the event entertainment managed by the long term partner Chai Events. Regional lead Asian organisation Young Asian Voices (YAV) kindly launched the event with a religious dance that blessed the evening. Fatima Patel and the amazing team at Asian Standard provided a special supplement featuring all of the finalists.

The Good Work Pledge featured a huge selfie station and as part of our collaboration we will be hosting a special ABC Curry Club to share more details of the immense benefits of the Pledge.

Our Finalists, Stakeholders and Supporters event is being planned to further celebrate worthy individuals where Sir John Hall will present the Inclusion by Default Award to Amanda Stavely and Mehrdad Ghodoussi their Award.

The feedback from the event has been tremendous and we cannot wait until next year. Thank you once again to all of our supporters and sponsors as without whom we wouldn't be able to celebrate inclusion.
A preview video of the event by Ian Mclelland Media is HERE.

We will be sharing a huge number of photos and videos from the evening in our Newsletter next week, so watch this space.

Save the date for next year 19th October 2023.

“Businesses that live and breathe inclusivity create the kind of working environments that attract the greatest talent. A company’s values are important to employees, and businesses that adopt inclusive working environments are rewarded with a culture of innovation, creatively and productivity.

“People want to work for companies that support, nurture and value their staff, and we should celebrate those businesses in our region that continue to champion inclusivity in the workplace.”
