LEADER OF NEWCASTLE CITY COUNCIL

Newcastle City Council congratulates ABC on three years of supporting the growth of new and existing businesses. Throughout that time, ABC have provided a forum where businesses can come together to grow, develop their networks and foster a genuine spirit of cooperative support and collaboration.

The business opportunities being created and the promotion of a multi-cultural society play a vital role in our shared ambition to create a fairer economy and society.

Organisations like ABC that bring businesses together and explore new and innovative ways of delivering business support to its members, as well as promoting and supporting the growth of enterprise are to be commended.

The City Council’s relationship with its business community is a key priority and by working in partnership we can all better face the challenges ahead as we all strive to create the best conditions for new jobs and investment. We look forward to continuing to work with ABC as it to builds upon its successes to date.

Warm wishes
Cllr Nick Forbes

EXCELSIOR ACADEMY

Excelsior Academy is based in Scotswood in West Newcastle is for local children aged 11 to 18. It is free and non-selective. The overall specialism of the academy is Business and Enterprise.

We believe that the model we have developed for Excelsior Academy delivers both the required educational and social benefits for the students.

All staff are responsible for ensuring that all students not only achieve their potential academically but develop an entrepreneurial ‘can do’ attitude which will stand them in good stead for the rest of their lives. We believe to deliver this agenda we need partners from Business and the wider community.

JOHN P LEE - CHIEF EXECUTIVE YOUR HOMES

ABC is important to Newcastle because it succeeds in its aim to connect, support and promote. Via ABC, YHN is ‘connected’ to different groups across the City. It puts us in touch with different organisations, public, private and voluntary, who are trying to achieve similar aims.

This connection is different to other networking activity. Meetings are structured but offer opportunities to meet people informally away from the office environment, allowing the sharing of best practice.

The aims to promote a multi-cultural atmosphere and foster harmonious community relations echo YHN’s work on community cohesion. Promoting inclusivity, fairness, and developing further opportunities for inter-community dialogue remains a priority for YHN and we fully support the work ABC does to promote this.

SPICE FM

ABC over the last few years has established and cemented its position in the North East as THE organisation central to bringing together business. Even though the name suggests Asian business as the only stakeholders, it is a fact that ABC engages and interacts with all businesses at every level and from every background. And its not just the private sector.

ABC’s ability to bring in expertise and leverage from the public sector and the third sector is all part of the strength of this amazing organisation.
